Okay, after all that whining, the rain stopped and I was able to ride home just fine. Still didn’t make it to Pilates like I wanted to though. I realized about half way that I forgot my helmet at the office and got a little scared about, you know, dying on the slick streets. But once I made it to the bridge, I was home free.
Tomorrow’s forecast: “Mostly Sunny”

The weather was so beautiful this morning. Sunny, clear skies, slight breeze. Beautiful. I simply didn’t listen to the weather guy when he said rain was coming. He has wronged me so many times before, warning that there would be afternoon storms and I should force myself to get on the crowded, pit-smelling L (and N) train instead of riding my bike to work. But then I’d get out of work and find gorgeous weather. So I carried my bike down from my apartment and rode into the city.
Just now, I packed up, stepped outside and said “Oh shit” out loud. That asshole was right. It’s pouring. Forget riding to the gym. No Pilates for me. Grump humph! I marched right back upstairs to do work and wait it out. I refuse to ride in the rain. I once took an awful crash on Boston when I tried riding home in a rainstorm and still have a scar on my elbow. It’s bad news. I could take the train but everyone will give me evil death stare if I take up all that room with my bike.
It’s fine. I have work to do and I’ll just do it here instead of at home. But this sucks. I hate the rain. I don’t know how you Pacific Northwesterners deal with it.

Does anyone know why there have been cops all over the Williamsburg Bridge recently? For the past two or three days, there has been a cop car with flashing lights at the top of the bridge. They’ve also been rolling in those tiny cars up and down the bike lane, giving the death glare to everyone who rides by. I also saw a couple of uniforms patrolling the underside of the bridge at the entrance to the East River Park. I’m assuming there was some kind of bomb threat. But I wonder if there is any other reason? There was some kind of
mugging on the bridge but that was on Sept. 10. WTF is going on?
