Decisions, decisions
This weekend I did a “test-tri” at my gym. I swam .8K in the gym pool, peddled 25K on a stationary bike and ran 5K on the treadmill, one after another. Things went well until the last mile on the treadmill. My knee started giving away and it felt like it was going to pop out of its socket again.
I stopped in the middle of the run and put on a knee brace. After a 10-minute break, I finished the last mile and my knee felt fine after a good stretching session. But I’ve decided to cancel doing to the tri this weekend. I signed up for the SheRox Philadelphia spring tri on August 3 instead. That is only a month and a couple of weeks away, but it will make a big difference in training and, uh, my stress level, ha.
I have so much going on right now. I’m moving in two weeks. I have NO MONEY for travel. And still don’t have a place to stay for the weekend. In August, my mom might be able to come and we can spend some much-needed quality time together. I’ll have an extra month of training, which will allow me to train harder and make sure my knee can handle a real tri. SheRox is also an all-female race (womyn rool!) and a few ladies I know will be competing with me.
I’m anxious to finally finish training and complete the tri (I want to go back to dance class!) but I’m not willing to go too soon and injure myself. Plus, I want to have fun! I think if I went this weekend I’d just feel overwhelmed and unprepared and bummed that I’d be by myself.
Anyway, I’m not sure if you guys care about my tri anymore because I haven’t been tracking my training here (ActiveTrainer has been helping me with that), but I just thought I’d update!
Back to work, more posts later!
